Tristate snowfall
6 inches recorded, more is forecast

A quick-moving storm passed through the Northeast, producing up to 6 inches for some areas. While some might wished for more, more will come this upcoming week.

Snow moved shortly around sunset across Pennsylvania and reached the New York City area by 8 p.m. There were periods of heavy snow, like in New Jersey, where snow fell 1.5 inches per hour. Sandy Hook, Conn., recorded 6 inches of snow, the station with the highest snowfall.

Another active period is expected between Tuesday evening and Thursday, where snow will fall first, mixed precipitation will follow, and likely end with snow again. Our long-range models show that there could be another 3 to 5 inches of snow across the Tristate region, while parts of Upstate New York could receive up to a foot of snow, similar to the Washington DC area. We will bring you updates as the forecast gets fine-tuned.
