East, Plains stay chilly
A soggy holiday start

The unofficial start of summer over the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend is going to start off soggy and a bit chilly for large stretches of the U.S. east of the Rockies.

The WeatherRadar shows heavy rain and thunderstorms across the western high Plains and from Texas to the Mid-Atlantic. This continues through tonight.

Friday will be soggy for even more places. Rain will be possible throughout the northern and central Plains, middle Mississippi Valley, South and Mid-Atlantic. This trend continues on Saturday and Sunday as a stagnant weather pattern sticks around, ruining a few outdoor plans for the Memorial Day weekend.

In addition to the rainy and gray conditions, the TemperatureRadar shows temperatures will be below normal. Highs will only be in the 60s for the next several days across the Midwest, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast.

Saturday could be the chilliest day of the weekend for the Mid-Atlantic with highs struggling to climb out of the 50s.
