A warm winter's day - Record highs for the western half

A warm winter's day
Record highs for the western half

Thursday's high temperature forecast
TemperatureRadar: Thursday's high temperature forecast

While the East continues to chill under below-average temperatures, the western half is experiencing spring-like weather through the weekend.

Record high temperatures are making it as far north as Havre, Mont., less than 50 miles from the Canadian border. The western U.S. has been locked under a high pressure ridge for much of the last several weeks, locking in the warmth.

Record-highs are all over the West Thursday and Friday, with a few more possible on Saturday. The warmest temperatures will be found in the Southwest with highs in the upper 70s and even a handful of 80s. From the West Coast to the central Plains, highs will be as much as 15 to 20 degrees above-average for this time of year.

While the TemperatureRadar shows mild temperatures through the weekend, western spring lovers will have to contend with a shift towards more average, even below-average, temperatures, as they are possible as we go through mid-February.
