Another quick-moving storm will impact the Great Lakes and the Northeast, producing winds of at least 65mph and snow showers through Wednesday. Several fronts will push through, bringing swings in temperatures, too.

Sunday was ruled by sporadic snow bands moving across some parts of the Northeast. The places most affected by the snow were those near Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, which continue to provide lots of moisture to trigger the big snow machines to put to work. Some areas across Upstate New York received between 6 to 8 inches of snow.

With its center over Canada, the following system will have a warm front moving through first, swinging the winds mainly from the west. These westerly winds are why the highest snowfalls are expected between Watertown and Fulton, N.Y., where the storm could drop up to 8 inches of snow through Tuesday morning, and the gusty winds could create whiteout conditions.

The winds will be dangerously strong from northern Illinois into Michigan and the interior Northeast through Tuesday morning. As the system moves east, the winds will slowly decrease across the Great Lakes on Tuesday but increase across the Northeast region. Gusts up to 45 mph with snow showers are possible across the Tri-State area on Tuesday, possibly switching to sleet.
