Another chaotic end to desert fest

Attendees stuck for hours
Another chaotic end to desert fest

It was another chaotic end to a unique festival held in the heart of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

A dust storm swept through the desert gathering on Monday, September 2 – the final day of the event – forcing departing attendees to endure long waits before they could leave the area.

The video above captures the whiteout conditions, with the storm obscuring flags marking the path for the festival’s “exodus line.” One attendee reported waiting four hours to exit the playa while “other campers were stuck for even longer.”

This marked the second consecutive year that extreme weather disrupted the festival’s conclusion. In 2023, heavy rains turned the grounds into mud, leaving thousands stranded for days.
