Severe storms swept through North Dakota, crossing the state in less than 6 hours, leaving a trail of destruction and at least three dead.

Shortly before midnight, two people were reported dead in Enderlin, North Dakota, about 40 miles southwest of Fargo, after storm chasers discovered the bodies. There was another person also found dead in Cass County by the fire department. Authorities reported extensive damage and continued to search for injured or victims.

The severe weather was the result of a "derecho" that produced extreme and destructive winds between 70 and up to 106 mph and extended for 300 miles. The National Weather Service will continue to evaluate the damage and rate the tornadoes. So far, preliminary reports have been that there were two EF-3 tornadoes and one EF-2 tornado. More storms are possible on Sunday with the threat of isolated severe storms. See the WeatherRadar here.
