Big changes this week
Autumn, is that you?

After what seemed like an unending summer of hot weather, big changes are heading to the Midwest, Great Lakes, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic this week. It will be time to unpack some sweaters and even a light jacket.

The season's first taste of autumn arrived on Saturday across the upper Midwest and northern Plains. The cold front bringing the big changes will move across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic today. As seen on the WeatherRadar, it will touch off showers and a few thunderstorms as it push away the hot summer air.

In the front's wake, refreshing autumn air will settle southward. Monday's highs, as seen on the TemperatureRadar, shows highs barely touching the upper 60s in the Minneapolis and Milwaukee, while comfortable 70s settle into the Northeast, Midwest and Great Lakes.

The autumn preview will settle into more of the central Plains and Mississippi Valley early this week. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s and low 70s will be common. Cooler night ahead will give the air-conditioner a break and allow many people to open the windows and let nature's air conditioner bring fresh air inside.
