Breakfast Brief
Coasts see busy start to the new week

After a busy weekend including flooding and more severe storms, the central U.S. is getting a break. The West and East coasts, as well as the Great Lakes will be dealing with wet and even snowy weather. The Breakfast Brief is published Monday through Friday at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

The storm system that brought numerous tornadoes and dangerous flooding over the last several days is finally moving east. The East Coast will be split between seasons too. First rain will reach as far north as New England with thunderstorms extending through the Gulf Coast and Florida.

On the colder, northern flank, snow is in the forecast across the Great Lakes. We hope you haven't put away your big coats yet!

Both commutes for the Pacific Northwest and northern California will be wet, with snow falling in the mountains. This is the start of a couple of storm waves before a mid-week break.

In the central portion of the U.S., dry weather is in the forecast, with cooler temperatures too. Highs will be about 10 degrees colder than average at times, so be sure to grab a jacket!
