East stays gray and soggy

Thursday, May 16th

On this day in 1896, a tornado that was 2-miles wide at its strongest, moved through northeastern Kansas and extreme southeastern Nebraska. It killed 25 people after hitting several farm communities.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar is showing heavy rain moving across the lower Mississippi Valley and into the Deep South. The heavy rain will continue to spread into the South and Southeast as well as expand northward into the Ohio and Mississippi valleys.

Rains showers will make their way into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic later into the day.
