Friday's alert

The work week concludes with more rain falling across Louisiana and the lower Mississippi Valley. Flooding remains a threat, especially early this morning. Low pressure developing in the southern Plains today will generate more storms across the Plains and Mississippi Valley this afternoon, evening, and overnight.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar shows a low pressure system moving across northern Minnesota with a large sweep of spring showers extending from the central Great Lakes into the Ohio and Mississippi valleys. Across the lower Mississippi Valley, a remnant of a storm complex is bringing more downpours to eastern Texas and Louisiana.

Meanwhile, severe storms will develop across the high western Plains later Friday afternoon. Large hail will be the biggest threat. Signs of a weekend cool down will appear in the Northeast and West Coast later Friday. For the East, cooler air moves off the northern Atlantic while a Pacific storm slowly approaches the Northwest coast.
