Strong storms impact Plains again

Low pressure developing in the southern Plains today will generate more storms across the Plains and Mississippi Valley this afternoon, evening, and overnight.

Coldest April temperature on record

The temperature at Eagles Nest, NM, plunged to 45 degrees below zero to establish an April record for the United States.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar shows low pressure developing over the southern Plains today, which will spark off strong storms starting this afternoon. Damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes are possible. The greatest risk of severe weather extends from west Texas into central Oklahoma, Kansas, and southern Nebraska.

Meanwhile, cooler-than-average temperatures will dominate in the Pacific Northwest. Snow will impact the Cascades, Bitterroot Mountains, and the northern Rockies today and tomorrow. The eastern-third of the country will continue to experience above-average temperatures.
