Breakfast brief
Tranquil for the center of the country

Stormy weather will affect both the West and East Coasts, but everyone in between will experience a tranquil end to the work week.

Coldest April temperature on record

The temperature at Eagles Nest, NM, plunged to 45 degrees below zero to establish an April record for the United States.

Today's weather outlook

After days of severe weather, some relief is on the way. The low pressure system that brought severe weather and flooding to the eastern third of the U.S. is on its way out. A few thunderstorms will linger and localized flooding remains a concern for the Northeast, but drier conditions are around the corner as storms head into Canada later today.

April 12, 2024

A cold front moving into the Northwest will bring showers and even a few thunderstorms. Moisture will spread into the Great Basin, northern Rockies, and northern and central California this afternoon and evening. The rest of the country will see sunshine and tranquil conditions.

News we're covering today:

  • Rain and storms linger for the Northeast.
  • A front brings wet weather to the Northwest.
