Breakfast Brief: Winter knocks on Rockies door

09:00 AM
October 22, 2024

Breakfast Brief
Quiet week continues Tuesday

The quiet weather continues Tuesday across most of the U.S. Only a few northern tier spots will have to contend with any weather.

The WeatherRadar shows autumn sunshine rising on the Atlantic Coast and setting across the Pacific. In between, the Southwest, southern Rockies, Great Plains, most of the Midwest, South and Southeast, will also enjoy a pleasant and sun-filled day.

The bountiful sunshine will produce an unseasonably warm late-October afternoon. The TemperatureRadar show highs in the upper 70s to low 80s found throughout southern California, the southern and central Plains, the South, Southeast and up the East Coast into southern New England.

A few daily records could be broken along the I-95 corridor from Washington northward into New York, including Philadelphia, Trenton and on Long Island.

Did you know?

On this day last year, Hurricane Tammy hit Barbuda in the eastern Caribbean. It had sustained winds of 90 mph and caused only minor damage.

The only bit of cloudy or rainy weather will be across the Northwest, northern Rockies northern Plains and the Midwest. Several weak systems, easily visible on WeatherRadar, will bring pockets of rain. These clouds and showers will keep highs in the 50s and low 60s.

Tropical update:

Tropical Storm Oscar will be sliding across the southern Bahamas today, bringing squalls of downpours and wind. It will weaken as it moves to the northeast into the wide-open Atlantic. Additional development isn't expected.
