Calgary hail stampede

Severe hail hit Calgary.

A big hailstorm rolled across Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Tuesday evening.

Golf to baseball-size hail was reported from an intense storm that rolled across the city's northwest suburbs and out onto the high Plains of central Canada. Windows, roofs and cars were damaged by the barrage of ice, with several inches accumulating in places.

Canada storms

Although not as common as in the U.S., the Canadian Plains and Rockies Front Range get hit with severe storms in late summer. Large hail and tornadoes do occur within these storms.
