Canadian wildfires
Poor air quality to span 1.2K+ miles

Mackinac Island air quality deteriorates over the next few days due to thick smoke.
Mackinac Island air quality deteriorates over the next few days due to thick smoke.

Wildfire smoke from Ontario is diving into the U.S. over the next few days, causing air quality issues spanning more than 1.2K miles. Those from northern Minnesota to the Northeast and down into the Mid-Atlantic should monitor the situation.

Residents, especially those surrounding the Great Lakes, will want to monitor their air quality in the Weather & Radar app through the end of the week as wildfire smoke settles closer to the surface. Many will be able to see it like a thick fog.

The clockwise turn of the high-pressure ridge bringing this next round of heat for the East is what is pulling down the smoke from Ontario. You can watch the smoke on the WeatherRadar as it thickens.

For this particular situation around the Great Lakes, everyone can expect some type of sensitivity to the smoke, not just those with existing conditions.
