The threat continues
Cars drive through floodwaters in Texas

Cars drove through floodwaters in Corsicana, Texas, on Thursday after nearly 4 inches of rain fell. With more rain forecast, the flood threat continues for some.

Heavy rain can quickly overwhelm drainage systems and lead to street flooding, and there was plenty of heavy rain on the WeatherRadar on Thursday.

Rainfall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour can quickly cause flash flooding, especially in urban areas. Coriscana, Texas, picked up 2.71 inches in just one hour on Thursday afternoon, with nearly 4 inches falling in total.

Rain totals through Saturday morning.

Those in the southern Plains and across the Southeast into the southern Great Lakes will want to keep an eye on the RainRadar today as the threat of flash flooding continues. Widespread rain totals of 1 to 2 inches are possible. However, some areas may pick up more locally.
