Cold night ahead across South: Big Florida chill

A big dip in temperatures is coming tonight across the South, as frigid air returns.

A cold front associated with the big nor'easter bringing blizzard conditions to the Northeast has swept across the South and Florida, producing a chilly Monday. The WindRadar shows breezy northerly winds continuing through this afternoon.

Tonight, the winds will diminish, and with a clear sky and already cold air, temperatures will quickly plummet. The TemperatureRadar shows temperatures dropping below freezing across northern and central Florida and throughout South and Southeast.

Across southern Florida, lows will be in the low 40s, with Key West dropping into the low 50s. These temperatures are 15 to 20 degrees below normal for this time of the year and a few spots could set new daily low temperature records early Tuesday.

This cold snap will be brief, with more seasonable highs in the mid to upper 70s returning to Florida on Wednesday and Thursday.
