Colorado wintry scene
Double-snow whammy

A November winter storm will bring a one-two punch of snow to Colorado over the next several days, making travel difficult.

As our WeatherRadar shows, heavy snow is falling over the high Plains of central and eastern Colorado, with wet snow the Denver area. Road are slick with a few lanes snow-covered across the rural parts of eastern and central Colorado. The Denver metro area are reporting wet roads Thursday morning.

Snow forecast for Friday and Saturday.

The first round of snow will let up a bit this afternoon and evening with total accumulations ranging from 6 to 8 inches, with a few 12 inches reported in the Palmer Divide and the Front Range.

The next round of snow will arrive tonight and last through Friday as a strong upper-level low moving out of the southern Rockies slides into the High Plains. The Denver metro area will be hit hard by this next round of snow.

Snowfall accumulations will be elevation dependent, with 4 inches likely in the city with higher elevations of the Palmer Divide and closer to the Front Range receiving more than 12 inches of snow.

This same system brought the first snowfall to Santa Fe, N.M., on Tuesday.

The snow will end early Saturday as the low pressure system moves out into the Plains and bring rain to the Upper Midwest and the risk of thunderstorms to eastern Texas and the Arklatex.
