Storms from Texas to Missouri

Scattered storms will stretch from Texas to Missouri today, with above-average highs across the eastern two-thirds of the country. This, along with our tropical update, is available at 5 a.m. ET in our daily briefing.

The WeatherRadar shows showers and storms developing from Texas to Missouri. A few storms may be strong, and flash flooding will be possible. Cities like Dallas, Shreveport, La., and Memphis, Tenn., should be on alert for flooding today. Strong storms will be possible from central Texas to western Mississippi. Damaging winds, hail and even a few tornadoes will be possible.

Scattered showers will stretch across the central Plains into the Midwest this afternoon and evening. The WeatherRadar will come in handy in cities like Kansas City, Mo., St. Louis, and Des Moines, Iowa. Some rain and mountain snow will impact the Pacific Northwest.

Above-average highs are forecast for the eastern two-thirds of the country. Highs will warm into the 70s and 80s across Texas and the Southeast. Cooler temperatures in the 40s and 50s will build across the Northwest and the Northeast. The Southwest will and central and southern California will see highs in the 60s.

Tropical Update

Tropical activity is not expected over the next several days. We continue to monitor the tropics as the Atlantic Hurricane Season lasts until November 30.
