Daily rain chances
South's flood risk continues

As much as 29 inches - yes, more than two feet - of rainfall has fallen across the south this week thanks to both the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur and a stationary frontal system. Friday brings additional rain and flood risks from Oklahoma and Texas to the Southeast.

Louisiana is the frontrunner for rain totals this week, thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur, with 29.06 inches accumulating in Cottonport, about 40 miles southeast of Alexandria. Wet weather isn't done yet.

The WeatherRadar shows rain and storms draped across the South on Friday. While scattered flash flooding is possible for places like San Antonio, Dallas and Houston, Texas, Hot Springs, Ark., Lake Charles and New Orleans, La., all the way to Valdosta, Ga., and Tallahassee, a potent area for widespread flash flooding focuses on and around Hattiesburg and Gulfport, Miss., as well as Mobile and Dothan, Ala.
