    Early Scorcher: A few record-breakers

12:00 PM

A few record-breakers
Early scorcher for Northwest

Warm Sunday

The Pacific Northwest is going to be one of the nation's hottest spots today as a few record high temperatures fall.

High pressure has brought a mostly sunny sky to the Northwest over the past several days and today will be the warmest one of the streak. Afternoon highs in Seattle will climb into the upper 70s while Portland could approach 90s degrees, which would set a new daily temperature record.

Although temperatures are warming up, and although tempting, cooling off in local lakes, rivers and waterways can be dangerous. Many rivers are moving swiftly because of spring runoff and temperatures are only in the 40s and 50s. Those cold temperatures could cause hypothermia quickly.

As the TemperatureRadar shows, it will stay warm through the start of the week, so enjoy the spring weather.
