And a foggy mist!
Extreme cold again for Southeast

Winter is holding firm in the South! Another frigid night is ahead across the Southeast as temperatures will drop to the 20s, putting more vegetation at risk and those extra sensitive to the cold.

It will be another brutally cold night across northern Florida and southern Georgia. Temperatures are extra cold in this region as a deep layer of frigid temperatures stays lingering from the Panhandle through the eastern half of the Carolinas. Lows tonight will be as low as 20 degrees below normal, between the upper teens and the low 20s.

In the rest of Florida, across the southern half, clouds have stayed put, allowing the cold air mass to sink in closer to the ground and keeping the afternoon cooler, cloudy, and with a few light raindrops at times. Fog has developed across Central and South Florida areas due to the temperature difference between the cold air mass and the still-warm lakes, waterways, and vegetation.

The forecast shows similar conditions on Friday before another front pushes through and finally sweeps away all the clouds, rain, and fog from the Peninsula. There could still be a few showers in the afternoon, and the front will sweep with everything by the late evening through South Florida. Temperatures will remain below average but warmer than they have been this week over the weekend.
