Unusually warm and dry weather in the Northeast is prompting fire concerns. A wildfire on Lamentation Mountain in Connecticut continues to burn.

Warm and dry weather has been impacting the Northeast this week, and while it may feel nice, this pleasant weather has sparked some dangerous conditions. Fire weather season typically occurs in the Spring in the Northeast, but this abnormally dry and warm weather has prompted fire weather alerts for Connecticut as the wildfire on Lamentation Mountain continues to rage.

The Lamentation Mountain wildfire is burning near Berlin and Meriden, Conn., has burned 80 acres. The WindRadar shows gusts up to 30 mph this afternoon. Combine this with the dry weather seen on the WeatherRadar, and fire can spread quickly.

The unusual warmth is also contributing to the unusual fire weather. The TemperatureRadar shows highs 15-25 degrees above average across the Northeast. The good news is that the WeatherRadar shows a cold front that will bring cooler weather and even a few showers to Connecticut tomorrow, reducing the risk of fire.
