    Fire threat on both coasts

Damage in SoCal
Fire threat on both coasts

Powerful Santa Ana winds helped dangerous wildfires spread across southern California earlier this week. The Northeast is also experiencing fire danger today, meaning fire weather is present on both coasts.

Fire danger is present on both coasts as dry conditions take hold. Santa Ana winds in southern California helped spark off numerous fires, including the Mountain Fire, which consumed over 20,000 acres in Ventura County and destroyed numerous structures.

The good news is that the WindRadar shows lower wind gusts across southern California this afternoon. While fire alerts remain in place, fire danger will remain lower into the weekend. Gusty winds and dry conditions are also bringing a significant fire threat to the Northeast today.

Fire alerts are in place from northern Virginia into Massachusetts. While today will bring elevated fire conditions to the Northeast, cooler temperatures and rain will help ease these conditions this weekend into next week.

For those in fire-prone areas, keep an eye on the WindRadar and be ready to evacuate if told to do so by authorities.
