Flooding in Texas Hill Country

The Llano River in Texas is rising quickly after days of rain. Who will see increasing flood chances today?

Heavy downpours in the Texas Hill Country prompted the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to open the flood gates at Wirtz and Max Starcke dams early Wednesday. While more rain is in the forecast, the greatest flood risk has shifted east.

Showers and storms will continue today, stretching from east Texas to the Northeast. Flash flooding will be possible from the Gulf Coast to the Mid-Altantic. Far eastern Texas and western Louisiana, including cities like Galveston, Beaumont, and Lake Charles, are likely to see flooding today as up to 5 inches of rain falls.

The flood threat will linger across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic through the remainder of the week. Keep an eye on the RainRadar and make sure your app alerts are turned on.
