Four people dead in Texas town amid destructive severe weather. More dangerous storms are on the way as we head into the weekend.

Lubbock, Texas, Fire Rescue reported that at least four individuals lost their lives in a tornado that struck the agricultural town of Matador, in northwestern Texas. This destructive tornado occurred amidst a series of powerful storms affecting the western and central regions of the United States.

According to the town’s mayor, Dvonna Grundy, one of the victims was an elderly woman who tragically passed away in her home. The tornado caused severe damage to the town, leading to four confirmed fatalities, ten injuries, and significant destruction of property.

WeatherRadar archive images show culprit severe thunderstorms rolling across the region Wednesday afternoon. There were several reports of hail over 2 inches in northwest Texas. In addition to the deadly tornado, the Matador storms produced hail up to 4.5 inches, roughly the size of a grapefruit! Hurricane-force winds over 105 mph were also reported in the area.

Many residents suffered damage to their homes and livestock, leaving them without essential belongings and animals.
