Honolulu sets new rain records

 A Kona low brought record rain and a blizzard for the chain of Hawaiian Islands.

Honolulu has broken rain records after a 'Kona Low' brought blizzard conditions, torrential rainfall, and flash flooding to Hawaii since the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a staggering 7.92 inches of rainfall at Honolulu on Monday, which beats the previous record of 4.11 inches set on the same day in 1988.

Monday was also the wettest December day on record narrowly beating the previous single-day record of 7.89 inches set on December 12, 1987.

While the deluge broke two records, the total falls short of Honolulu's overall record of rain in a single day that stands at 15.32 inches from March 5, 1958.
