From wet to sunny
WindRadar: Southwest to northerly flow

Northerly flow is bringing in dry, cooler air.
WindRadar: Northerly flow is bringing in dry, cooler air.

The Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas are having their nicest day in a week, thanks to a welcome cold front bringing in a new air mass.

After days of wet and humid weather, with below-average temperatures keeping Memorial Day weekend plans indoors, Thursday welcomes a change of pace: northwesterly flow and sunshine.

The WindRadar shows the shift in the last 24 hours. While the last gasp of the wet weather impacted many with heavy rains and thunderstorms on Wednesday, a cold front made its way south overnight into Thursday. The winds out of the south and southwest brought in plentiful moisture, but now northerly flow brings drier air.

The high pressure settling in place will bring days of sunshine and dry weather. Although the rain was needed due to persistent drought, this cold front offers some days to dry out.
