Georgia wildfire ignited by lightning

A large wildfire burning near 1,000 acres ignited last week on St. Catherines Island, Ga.

After storms moved across coastal Georgia more than a week ago, a lightning strike ignited a large wildfire south of Savannah in Liberty County, Ga. Stubborn severe drought is present in the area providing plentiful fuel for wildfires to start and spread.
