Heads-up! A severe outlook to plan accordingly

Heads-up!
A severe outlook to plan accordingly

Weather setup for early next week that could bring rounds of severe storms.

‘Tis the season! And we are not necessarily referring to the holidays. It is common during this time of the year to get severe weather outbreaks, and we are giving you a heads-up, about 6 days in advance, about the chance for another round of severe weather over eastern Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and western Mississippi.

As far as timing, Tuesday and early Wednesday could be the period when this severe event could take place. But before this, there could be another area, on Monday into Tuesday where severe storms could spark across eastern Oklahoma and North Texas.

What could trigger this event?

A strong low-pressure system will be emerging from the Rockies. As profound cold air is pulled southward, there will be plenty of moist, warm air pulled from the Gulf of Mexico ahead of the system. This warm and moist air will prime the atmosphere and allow it to become unstable enough to probably produce some severe storms once the low and its front start to get closer.

The disclaimer

Just like with any event that we are looking into so far ahead, there can and will be changes. Perhaps there could be some changes to the timing and lots of finetuning of the threats and areas that could be affected. So, make sure to continue checking back. For now, it would be safe to say that if you have plans outdoors or big events happening Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, it would be best to have a plan B.

Our team of meteorologists is closely monitoring the evolution of this system and will bring you prompt updates throughout the rest of this week and through the weekend.
