Heat wave continues
No break from Texas, South heat

Texas, the Gulf Coast, and the South will remain locked in hot weather for the rest of the week. Additional heat and humidity will keep the A.C. humming.

The TemperatureRadar shows numerous triple-digit highs are likely across central and northern Texas northward into Oklahoma. The hot upper 90s and low 100s will also extend eastward into the lower Mississippi Valley, central Gulf Coast, and the South for the rest of the work week.

High humidity spreading northward from the Gulf of Mexico will make it feel even hotter, with Dallas, Oklahoma City, Shreveport, and New Orleans, La., Mobile, Ala., and Pensacola, Fla., having feels-like temperatures in the triple digits.

Yes, we know it is August and it is always hot. However, there won’t be any overnight relief. Nighttime temperatures will struggle to drop into the upper 70s, keeping the air conditioner running nonstop. In fact, these very warm low temperatures could set new daily records throughout the week across the South and Texas.

A few afternoon storms are possible across the lower Mississippi Valley and South each afternoon, but they will only provide temporary relief. Track their development using WeatherRadar.
