Heat wave continues
No heat relief for Texas, South

The heat is on in the heart of Texas and the South, with more records falling. High humidity will keep the A.C. humming.

We are sounding like a broken record, but it is going to be another hot day from Texas to the Southeast. More triple digits will be in central and northern Texas into Oklahoma, with upper 90s found throughout the Gulf Coast, lower Mississippi Valley, and the South.

Although these are normal summer temperatures, this doesn’t factor in the building humidity. The feel-like temperatures are skyrocketing. It will feel like 105 to 110 degrees, making it hard to be outside in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Shreveport, and New Orleans, La., Mobile, Ala., and Pensacola, Fla.

There isn’t any overnight relief. Nighttime temperatures will struggle to drop into the upper 70s with many places not dropping out of the 80s, setting new daily records for warmest low temperatures. Houston broke its record Tuesday when the daily low only reached 82 degrees. This will keep the air conditioner running nonstop.

A few afternoon storms are possible along the Gulf Coast each afternoon, but they will only provide temporary relief. Track their development using WeatherRadar.
