Isaias post-landfall impacts

Isaias made landfall near Destin, Fla., as a Category 2 storm at 8:30 p.m. Central Time on Friday night. What's left of the storm will bring some potent threats to the Southeast this weekend.

Isaias may no longer be a hurricane, but its impacts are far from over. The remnants are pushing north today, bringing heavy rain and a growing flash-flood threat to parts of the Southeast, the Tennessee Valley, and the southern Appalachians.

Heavy downpours could trigger dangerous flash flooding, especially in urban and low-lying areas. The greatest concern stretches from northern Georgia into eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina, where landslides are also possible. Additional heavy rain could bring flooding to northwest Florida and coastal areas of southwest Florida. Use the WeatherRadar to track the rain as Isaias moves north.

The WindRadar also shows gusts upwards of 40 mph across parts of the Southeast and into the Smokies. Downed trees and power outages will be possible. A few tornadoes will also be possible from the Florida Panhandle into Georgia and South Carolina.
