Tornadoes, flooding to rip through East

Thursday's live blog is covering the severe weather situation across the eastern third of the U.S. Tornadoes are a main threat.

4:30 p.m. EDT

The next tornado watch has been issued for the Ohio Valley. Storms containing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are all expected through the evening. Have at least three ways to receive a weather warning and have your notification volume turned up on your devices.

This large storm is what caused the severe weather that tore across the Deep South on Wednesday. One tornado was reported.

3:30 p.m. EDT

Rainfall totals in Florida over the last 24 hours have caused flash flooding issues. Flood warnings can be found all across the Panhandle.

Not to be outdone, a large tornado was reported near St. Augustine, Fla.

As we head closer to the afternoon commute, keep a close eye on the WeatherRadar. Downpours and severe storm development are expected to ramp up through the late afternoon and evening hours, especially in the Ohio Valley.

As much as an enhanced risk for severe weather has been issued on Thursday, and this is focused on the Ohio Valley. However, due to the size of this storm system, at least isolated severe storms are possible from the Lower Great Lakes to central Florida.

A tornado watch is in effect for the northern half of Florida including Sarasota, Daytona Beach, and Jacksonville. Have at least three ways to receive a weather warning.
