Milton departs Florida
Improving Florida weather

Hurricane Milton made landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast Wednesday night, moving across central Florida throughout the night and is departing the coast this morning.

The WeatherRadar shows Milton moving off Florida’s Space Coast Wednesday morning and it will continue to move eastward away from Florida today. A combination of Milton’s weakening and its push away from Florida will allow conditions to slowly improve today, but lingering threats remain.

The biggest threat remains storm surge along Florida’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts. The strongest surge, upwards of 5 feet, will occur along Florida’s and Georgia’s Atlantic Coastline from the Space Coast northward into Jacksonville.

This will gradually recede as the onshore flow around Milton subsides as the hurricane weakens and pulls away from Florida.

The WindRadar shows gusty winds lingering across Florida through the afternoon hours. This will slow recovery efforts even as clouds diminish and the sun starts to dry things out.

Weather & Radar will be providing updates as the storm departs and recovery gets back underway.
