The Northeast will feel much balmier than usual as high pressure sends moisture toward the region. Heat index values will run 5-10 degrees higher than the actual temperatures into the weekend as some of the highest humidity values of the summer move in.

In addition to the sweltering heat, strong storms may erupt in the afternoon and evening hours. These storms will have plentiful moisture to work with, meaning flash flooding will be a concern, especially in urban areas.
