A parade of storms
More wintry weather for the PNW

The Pacific Northwest will not be getting much of a break as more disturbances move in through the weekend, bringing rain, snow, and ice to the region.

It's a messy morning in the Pacific Northwest, especially in Oregon where freezing rain brought much of the Portland metro to a standstill. As of Wednesday morning, more than 80,000 customers are without power across the state, and more wintry weather is in the forecast.

The WeatherRadar shows the Pacific storm system that brought the ice to Oregon yesterday sliding into Washington and Montana Wednesday afternoon and evening. While the freezing rain will taper off Wednesday morning, heavy snow will spread across the interior Northwest through the rest of the day.

Another storm system moves in Thursday, bringing more coastal rain, freezing rain, and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest. Areas that are already an ice rink, including the Columbia Basin and Gorge, will pick up more ice Thursday into Friday with this second system.

More ice

An ice storm warning remains in effect for northwestern Oregon into southwestern Washington, including Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash. Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings stretch across the Northwest and into the Rockies. Cities like Seattle and Spokane, Wash., Pendleton, Ore., Boise, Idaho, Great Falls, Mont., Ogden, Utah, and Jackson, Wyo., are under winter weather alerts.

By Thursday night, the Cascades will have picked up 1 to 2 feet of snow, with the higher peaks in the northern and central Rockies picking up 5 to 10 inches of snow. An additional glaze to a half-inch of ice is possible in northwestern Oregon into southwestern Washington through the end of the week.

Another weather system will impact the West Coast Friday into the weekend, bringing even more unsettled weather. The WeatherRadar shows rounds of rain along the coast and lower elevations, with wintry weather for the mountains and higher elevations. Keep it here for the latest!
