Forecast calls for rain
Muddy Kentucky Derby

The 151st Kentucky Derby will be run this Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky, specifically at Churchill Downs, and it will be a wet one!

The last time the Kentucky Derby experienced rain was in 2019. This year, the Derby will be impacted by an ample low-pressure system that will bring plenty of rain and thunderstorms across Kentucky and surrounding states this weekend, including the risk for flash flooding. You can bet on a muddy track and passing storms, which are forecast to happen before the race starts at 5:57 p.m. Central Time.

While the storms are slated to come before and during the morning and early afternoon, some showers will likely push through at the start of the race and through the two minutes it lasts. The WindRadar shows the wind will also pick up after noon CT. So, ladies, adjust those hats and make sure they are well pinned.

The WeatherRadar shows a spin over the area on Sunday, with plenty of rain and still some isolated storms affecting the area, which could hamper any plans for visitors still in the region on Sunday.
