Multi-day severe threat for millions

A widespread severe weather threat will cover areas from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes today and tomorrow. Over 100 million are at risk of damaging winds, hail and tornadoes.

The WeatherRadar shows widespread storms developing later today in the Midwest and South, then spreading to the East Coast on Monday. Both days bring the risk of damaging wind, large hail and tornadoes.

Severe storms ramp up after dark.

Today's threat will impact the Mid-South, Lower Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley, and Tennessee Valley. Cities like Shreveport, La., Memphis and Nashville, Tenn., Louisville, Ky., St. Louis and Indianapolis are at risk of severe storms.

While severe storms are possible throughout the day, the risk will ramp up after sunset. Very large hail is possible from northern Louisiana to Indiana. With the risk of strong tornadoes stretching from northern Mississippi to southern Indiana, it's crucial to stay alert tonight.

The threat of severe weather shifts east on Monday, with the threat extending from New Orleans to Albany, N.Y. The Southeast coastline will see the most favorable conditions for damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes.
