Autumn snow strands motorists

A autumn blizzard hitting northeastern New Mexico has stranded motorists, closed roads and knocked out power.

The winter storm has produced 10 to 20 inches of wet and heavy snow across northeastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado. This made it hard for road crews to clear roads and at least 100 motorists were reportedly stranded.

Winter storms become more prevalent heading deeper into the November, especially across the western high Plains, the Rockies, Mountain West, Sierra Nevada and Cascades. Now is the time to get the winter emergency kit out and put into your car so you are prepared for the winter ahead.
