Ohio Valley, Northeast - Wet Sunday ahead, storm chances

Ohio Valley, Northeast
Wet Sunday ahead, storm chances

A weather system disrupting the quiet weather streak began impacting the Upper Midwest and lower Great Lakes on Saturday. Today, rain is spreading as far east as New England, with thunderstorm chances in the lower Ohio Valley.

If the weather has been so nice that you have forgotten to check your forecast, we're here to remind you. Cool autumn rains are moving across the Ohio Valley, Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic today, with storm chances to boot.

Low pressure will march across the Midwest and Upper Midwest today and move into the Northeast by late tonight. The WeatherRadar shows rain spreading across Minnesota and Wisconsin southeastward to the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. Many woke up to chilly drops as temperatures were only in the 40s and 50s. The wet weather will continue through the afternoon, and some non-severe storms could mix in.

Thanks to the cold front running into a warm, moist air mass in the lower Ohio Valley, isolated severe storms are possible. Ashland, Kent., through Charleston and Morgantown, W. Va., could see some damaging gusts within these storms. If you have inflatable Halloween decorations up, be sure to secure them before the storms arrive.

One of the best ways to know about severe weather ahead is through your app alerts. Have them switched on in the Weather & Radar app to know when strong storms or flooding rains are in your forecast.
