Pacific Northwest - Weekend parade of storms

Pacific Northwest
Weekend parade of storms

After a brief break, a stormy pattern is setting up just in time for the weekend across the Pacific Northwest. Heavy rain with snowmelt is in the forecast.

The WeatherRadar shows little activity across the Pacific Northwest by mid-afternoon Thursday, but come Friday, wet weather will finally enter the chat as rain, mountain snow and even freezing rain impact the morning of the residents of the Seattle Metro and surroundings. Wintry weather won't be the main impact of these storms, however.

This first storm coming ashore along the Pacific Northwest Coast is one of three to visit over the course of February's last weekend. On the WeatherRadar, we have a worldwide view of each active system and the forecast for the next four days. You can see each storm that will impact the Pacific Northwest already!

You'll notice the lack of extensive snowfall on the WeatherRadar when reviewing your forecast this weekend, and mostly rain is predicted. These are warmer systems, which means the rain and higher temperatures will contribute to snowmelt across the mountains. The rainfall added onto snowmelt creates the chance for flooding and debris flows.

Residents will need to be mindful with their travels this weekend as streams and rivers will have rising waters, especially along the foothills of the Cascades. Keep your alerts switched on in the app and have at least three ways to receive weather warnings. Remember, turn around, don't drown, should you come to a flooded road or path.
