More big waves
Pacific storm train continues

Powerful Pacific storms brought dangerous surf to the Mendocino coast in northern California on Thursday. As the parade of storms continues, more sneaker waves and dangerous beach conditions are expected into the weekend.

On Thursday, powerful waves pounded the rocks along the Mendocino Coast in northern California. A parade of Pacific storms has lashed much of the West Coast this week, and this active pattern will continue into the weekend.

The WeatherRadar shows more rounds of heavy coastal rain and mountain snow. Wet and windy conditions continue for cities like Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Redding, Calif., into the weekend. By the end of the weekend, rain totals of 3-5 inches are likely, while snowfall totals of 1 to 3 feet are likely in the highest elevations of the Northwest.

Gusty winds upwards of 40 mph will also bring scattered power outages and help create high surf. Sneaker waves are also more likely. These are very large, powerful coastal waves that approach the shore suddenly. Do not turn your back on the ocean and keep an eye on Weather & Radar's marine forecast.
