Plunging temps ahead
Cold front invades Midwest

Big temperature plunges are ahead across the Upper Midwest and Midwest today, with a big burst of arctic invading the U.S. this week.

Places like Minneapolis and Milwaukee will reach their highest temperatures today before temperatures rapidly plummet this afternoon and evening. The TemperatureRadar shows temperatures dropping 25 to 30 degrees this afternoon. Morning temperatures in the 40s in the Twin Cities and low 50s across the rest of the Midwest will be in the teens and 20s by midnight.

The arctic air will spread south and east across the next several days. Lows will sink below freezing on Thursday morning across the deep South and northern Florida.

In addition to the big temperature drops, the front will bring showers to the Upper Midwest while snow showers streak across the Great Lakes.
