Recap: Plains blizzard, Midwest twisters

On Wednesday, a powerful storm brought blizzard conditions and severe storms from the Plains to the Great Lakes. Another storm threat looms for the weekend.

A robust storm system brought a blizzard to the Plains and Midwest and severe weather to the Midwest and Great Lakes on Wednesday. The WeatherRadar caught all of the action.

Snow totals ranged from 6 inches to more than a foot across parts of Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, with major highways shutting down due to poor visibility. High winds whipped through, with a 74 mph gust recorded in Lincoln, Neb.

Severe storms rocked the Midwest and lower Great Lakes, with at least eight tornadoes reported across Illinois.
