Record-breaking heat
Watch the heatwave build

An intense heat wave is building in the eastern U.S. this week, where temperature records as old as 128 years could fall. The high-pressure ridge can be seen building on the WindRadar.

The TemperatureRadar isn't the only place to understand the temperatures across the U.S. The WindRadar can help create a better depiction of 'why,' for those wondering why the heat is here in the first place.

Monday's hot weather in the eastern half of the U.S. is focused on the Midwest, the Great Lakes and down into the Ohio Valley. The high pressure responsible can be seen on the WindRadar, circulating the hot air out of the south and southwest. The heat will shift all the way to the East Coast by the latter half of the week, topping the triple digits.

Those attending soccer matches could be disrupted by intense heat this week, like in Arlington, Texas, East Rutherford, N.J. and Atlanta. When standing in line to enter the stadiums, travelling or celebrating the big wins, pay close attention to the TemperatureRadar.
