Rough surf in Orange Beach, Ala.

On Monday morning, swimmers were told to stay out of the water along Orange Beach, Ala., as rough surf pounded the beaches.

Red flags were up along the Gulf Coast on Monday as rough surf and strong currents made swimming hazardous. Swimmers were instructed to stay out of the water along Orange Beach, Ala.

Our marine weather feature gives you water temperatures, wave heights, tide times and wind gusts.

The WindRadar shows gust winds upward of 30 mph today across the northern Gulf Coast. This gusty wind and thunderstorms have made for hazardous swimming conditions. You can check conditions at the beach using our marine feature.

Cloud cover is also keeping the UV index lower, a trend that will continue into tomorrow.
