Severe risk on Wednesday
Isolated tornado, hail & damaging wind

Severe risk on Wednesday for the South.

A line of storms associated with the next system moving through the Central Plains will increase the chance for severe storms across the South on Wednesday afternoon.

As the low-pressure system moves east, there is a cold front being dragged with it. Ahead of the cold front is the risk for isolated severe storms that will expand across western Tennessee southward toward northern Louisiana and extreme eastern Texas.

Residents and visitors from the Sabine Valley through the Mid-South should know where to go in case a tornado warning is issued for your location. The storms will continue traveling eastward through the afternoon and affect the Lower Ohio and Mississippi Valleys. Severe storms could also develop damaging winds and small to medium hail.

Timing

The main threat will be in the afternoon hours into the early evening. Overnight the storms will become less intense but could still affect parts of the southeast, just not to a severe scale.

The threat of some isolated severe storms will be present for northern Ohio on Thursday, closer to where an occluded front will be pushing through.
