Severe storm strikes Perryton, Texas

Texas town gets pummeled by severe thunderstorms, and the storm chaser is caught in the middle of it.

Storm chaser Dwayne Scales captured remarkable footage of a severe storm that hit Perryton, Texas, on May 22, 2023. The video shows the impact of heavy hail, intense rain, and strong winds on the town. Dwayne reported that the combination of large hail and strong winds created a chaotic situation and caused damage to vehicles in the area.

These storms resulted from elevated temperatures across the Southern Plains, which lead to a slight risk (threat level 2 out of 5) in northwestern Texas, including the larger cities of Lubbock and Amarillo. Weather & Radar meteorologists anticipate similar storm conditions in the affected areas today. Stay tuned for the latest updates for further information.
