Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats for Tuesday's storms.

After an active Monday when damaging winds uprooted whole trees and hailstones the size of softballs impacted the mid-Mississippi Valley, the storm threat shifts to the Arklatex, the western Tennessee and lower Mississippi valleys.

An enhanced risk has been issued ahead of today's severe storms. Damaging winds and large hail are the main risks, but a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Dallas, Shreveport, La., Little Rock, Ark., Memphis, Tenn., and Jackson, Miss., are all in Tuesday's strongest risk for the severe storms, but those from I-75 in Oklahoma through Chattanooga, Tenn., and through Alabama could see severe storms today.

The WeatherRadar shows thunderstorm activity picking up even before lunchtime in the Arklatex today and gaining traction throughout the afternoon due to the daily heating.
